Short description of the work

This work accumulates the period of 12 years of abstaining from creating, presenting and active involvement in different artistic areas, treating and transforming this situation into fine art. I would like to stress that this artistic product has elements of “neoism” or “parodistic–ism”, a subcultural experimental movement, having in mind that such artistic action has been performed by Stewart Home, entitled as “Art Strike” in the period 1990 to 1993; therefore I have undertaken the artistic action, however, the topic, i.e. content that is being treated is completely different and treats other aesthetic dimensions, unlike Art Strike. This artistic project focuses on my 12-year abstaining from the sphere of aestheticism, a form where I do not valorize, create, present, educate myself, nor do I commercialize in any segment of the science of beauty. I note that I have not made any artistic presentation regardless of the cultural medium in the period 2010 to 2022. During this period, I have not realized any intellectual work in any artistic and aesthetic medium, that is, I have not been involved in any artistic and cultural engagement. I distance myself and I have not been involved in any kind of education with a cultural concept. Also, I have not been present in any area of cultural institutions where I would provide a livelihood from the artistic profession.

As previously stated, the topic, concept and content that is being treated and the reasons for the action are completely different and are arguing with other aesthetic dimensions and connotations, unlike the topic that is elaborated by the Art Strike. The absurdity of doing nothing (nothingness) in the artistic sphere is a term that grows into a pivot and current thematic preoccupation that is expressed through this artistic action entitled “Abstaining from art.” My intention is to analyze the stated notion that the abstinence, i.e. doing nothing in art can transform and mutate in character and come to the point of reproducing art, i.e. a work of art. The act of declaring and profiling an art exhibit will contribute to theorizing that the constant nothing becomes and reformulates into a concrete something. One can conclude that the participation of the nothingness has the constitution of a power to shape and create an artistic product. I emphasize the conclusion that not making art can be art in itself. The medium through which the work is presented is a textually documented art performance. It is a text that presents the act of performance expanded with the topic of the nothingness. I would be glad if you would read the text.
